Over the years, I have been asked to share conversations, muses, writings, and interviews with a wider audience. These are offered for my colleagues, friends, family, and students who have made such a positive impact and shown great interest in the U.S. National Security and History of the United States and our World. These are presented through the eyes of someone who has been blessed with the opportunity to work with world leaders at significant moments in our history. I hope you find these posts enjoyable, and perhaps insightful, with the understanding that so many of you have provided so much in this field that we will undoubtedly be better for our collective effort.

The enclosed is focused on sharing insights from the writings, interviews, and talks from Dr. William J. Parker III’s thirty-five-year career in the maritime industry and in international conflict resolution and partnership building.
Parker is an entrepreneur, inventor, and national security leader, with thirty year’s experience as a senior US Naval Officer. After retirement from the military, he served as the President and CEO of the East West Institute. Dr. Parker is the CEO and founder of Parker Maritime Technologies offering advanced maritime technology for more fuel efficient and eco-friendly shipping.
Dr. Parker is an accomplished speaker and frequent guest commentator in global media on issues of national security and the global economy. He has guest lectured at numerous Universities and the Council on Foreign Relations, where he is a life member and former military fellow.
An award-winning author, Dr. Parker has published over fifty articles and co-authored the books Jihadist Strategic Communication as Practiced by Usama bin Laden and Aymen al Zawahiri and Guaranteeing America’s Security in the Twenty-First Century.
He appears in the 2016 Emmy-winning documentary, Sonic Sea.
During more than three decades in uniform, he served as the Chief of Staff for U.S. Naval Surface Forces, commanded three warships, a squadron of warships and was the 2009 recipient of the Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale Award for Inspirational Leadership. Parker is a qualified military parachutist and Surface Warfare Officer with a long list of awards, including the Bronze Star, three Legions of Merit and Department of State Meritorious Honor award. He was the U.S. Navy’s Military Fellow at the Council of Foreign Relations. In addition to multiple combat tours, he held the post of senior advisor and strategist with U.S. embassies in Iraq and Pakistan.
Dr. Parker holds a PhD from George Mason University’s Department of Molecular and Microbiology; an MPA from Harvard’s John F Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor of Science from the United States Air Force Academy where he was a distinguished military graduate and class president.
Dr. Parker is passionate about global security, the future of the world and the need for developing capable and moral leadership.
